Using devices and starting measurements
Working with your connected devices is the most basic function of Laboperator. To do this go to Devices in the Navigation Menu of the Laboperator App and select the device you want. Having done this, you can see the interface belonging to the selected device. To learn how to connect your device to the connector box click here.
After selecting a device, you need to look at the device's default interface, where you can find current information on your device.
Please note: every type of device has its own default layout.
To personalize a device’s dashboard layout, navigate to the Details Panel on the right and click on Layout Settings; then select Layout Tool. Then you can resize and rearrange every element of your device dashboard.
Add a device dashboard element
How to add a device dashboard element:
- Navigate to Layout Settings in the Details Panel.
- Click Add Element. Then you can choose which element you want to add from the list.
- Click on the element you want.
- Then you have to specify the elements characteristics/commands.
Please note: the commands that are needed depends on the type of element you selected.
Modify/Remove device dashboards elements
Modifying and removing elements from your dashboard are two different features.
To modify a dashboards element:
- Navigate to Layout Settings in the Details Panel. Then you can move and change the size of all elements.
- To delete an element right-click on the element and select Settings.
- Once you've clicked on Settings you will find all possible setting options of your element in the Details Panel.
- To delete the element scroll down and select Delete.
To start a measurement, navigate to the measurement Item in the Details Panel and select Start Measurement. Then the measurement will be running until you stop it by manually clicking on Stop Now.
Where to find your completed measurements
After stopping your measurement, you will find the completed measurements in the same panel at Related Measurements. You can either start a new measurement or select a measurement from your list. If you want to edit a completed measurement, select it in the Details Panel and click Selected Measurement, then navigate to Edit (you can add a description, change selected devices, etc.).
If you want to review the measurements of your devices navigate to Measurements in the Navigation Menu.
Share your device with another user or a team
To share your device, navigate to the Context Menu and select Share Device with team or user.
To rename a device, navigate to the Context Menu and click Edit, now you can change the name of the device. This is especially useful if you have more than one device of the same type and need to distinguish between them.
Viewing historic data
To review historical data, navigate to elements like the Line Chart, right-click on the element and select Scope. Then you will find the data in the Details Panel.
Please note: this feature is only available for certain elements, and to select another element you need to click somewhere on the screen (beside the elements) until the historic data has disappeared in the Details Panel and then try right-clicking on another element.
To export measurement data of a specific device, right-click on the element you want to download the data from (e.g. Line Chart) and select Export. Then you can choose the file format and hit Next and Download.
To configure a devices channels select Edit from the Context Menu.
The channel options control how data points are generated. Behavior upon updates from the device and periodic behavior can be configured. For example, a data point could be created every 5 minutes to document constantly and additionally another data point instantly when the value coming from the device has changed for maximum responsiveness.
Configuring device drivers
To configure a devices driver select Edit from the Context Menu. Every device automatically selects a working driver when created. You can change the driver or driver version later if you want. Selecting the wrong driver will result in the device being shown as offline or in an error state; so you need to only update these when you really know what you're doing.
