With Laboperator you can create dashboards using different channels from devices. Every device comes with a pre-defined set of channels that can be displayed in different dashboard elements.
Creating a new dashboard
To create a new dashboard click on the +ADD button within the navigation menu and select Dashboard. Now you can choose the collection it should be created in, name the dashboard and, if required, select another dashboard you want to copy from by typing in the name of the dashboard.
Adding dashboard elements
From an empty dashboard you can use the Add Element button to add new elements. Beside, you can always navigate to the context menu and select the Layout tab to add elements. Choose the element type you want to add and click on next. Depending on the element type you chose, different parameters have to be set. For example, using a gauge you have to set the channel the gauge should display. When doing so, the device and the corresponding channel have to be selected. The new element can also be labeled. Labels can be adjusted by size and color. Clicking on confirm at the bottom of the Context Menu, the new dashboard element will be created.
Tip: Sometimes it’s not trivial how a specific dashboard element can be created. To get inspiration or assistance, view the default dashboard element settings from the devices you want to create a dashboard from (see also next paragraph).
Note: You can also add dashboard elements not directly related to devices such as separators or web pages.
Viewing, changing and deleting dashboard elements
Use a right click on the dashboard element you want to view the settings from and click on settings. Within the context menu, you can view/ change the settings or delete the element by clicking on remove.
Changing the layout
To change the layout of your dashboard, open the context menu and click on the layout tab. Use the switch button to turn on the Layout Tool. Now you can adjust your dashboard elements in position and size using drag and drop functionality. In the top left corner of each element, you can grab the element and change the position on the dashboard. In the bottom right corner, you can grab the element to adjust the size.
Dashboards are, like the Laboperator interface in general, responsive and thus a specific layout only works perfect on the same screen size and resolution (see also next paragraph).
Advanced layout options
Within the Layout tab of the context menu, you find advance options. A click on this sections opens the menu. For different screen resolutions (e.g. for tablets, laptops, smartphones and desktop screens) different layouts can be applied by changing the number of columns. For example on a tablet you might want to display the single elements over the entire width of the dashboard and choose 1 column accordingly. For a desktop screen, however, you choose 2 columns to display two elements side by side.
Tip: Use developer tools of your browser to simulate different end-devices/ resolutions. For example in firefox or google chrome use control+shift+i to open the developer tools and then control+shift+m to display different resolutions.
