Roles & Permissions

Roles and permissions allow full access configuration of all features in Laboperator. By setting custom Roles any step becomes controllable and thus allows the necessary regulations to design processes efficiently. Only users with the respective rights are for example able to add Resources like Collections, Workflow Templates, and so on. Furthermore, you will be able to restrict access to Resources and Collections.

Add a Role


To add a Role, please follow the steps below:


1. On the left-side panel click on More.


2. Navigate to Groups & Roles > Roles and click on NEW ROLE.




3. In the new window you have the following options:

  1. Enter a name for the new Role.
  2. Add a description.
  3. Choose the Permissions for the Role either by scrolling through the list and marking the checkboxes or using the search functionality at the top. 
  4. To save the new role scroll to the top and select SUBMIT.



4. A snackbar with a confirmation appears at the bottom left. You will be redirected to the overview of all Roles upon submission.



View Role

To view the current existing Roles of your Organization, please follow the steps below: 

1. Click on the left-side panel on More.

 


2. Navigate to Groups & Roles > Roles. An overview of the currently existing Roles is shown.


Duplicate a Role


To duplicate a Role, please follow the steps below:

1. On the left-side panel click on More.


2. Navigate to Groups & Roles > Roles. Click on the right-pointing arrow beside the Role you want to duplicate.



3. Click on DUPLICATE.


4. A snackbar with a confirmation appears at the bottom left. You will be redirected to the duplicated Role which is marked with (Copy) at the end of the Role name.



Edit/Update a Role


To edit/update a Role, please follow the steps below:

1. On the left-side panel click on More.


2. Navigate to Groups & Roles > Roles. Click on the right-pointing arrow beside the Role you want to change.


3. Click on EDIT.


4. In the new window you have the following options:

  1. Re-enter a name for the Role.
  2. Change the description.
  3. Select or deselect Permissions for the Role either by scrolling through the list and marking/unmark the checkboxes and optionally using the search functionality at the top. 
  4. To save the Role scroll to the top and select SUBMIT.


5. The Role with the changed Permissions is displayed.



Delete a Role

To delete a Role, please follow the steps below:

1. On the left-side panel click on More.


2. Navigate to Groups & Roles > Roles. Click on the right-pointing arrow beside the Role you want to delete.




3. Click on DELETE.


4. A pop-up window opens. Confirm the process by clicking again on DELETE.
