Devices that would normally be connected to a local network via Ethernet cable can also be connected directly to a Connector Box. If the Connector Box is connected to the local network via WiFi, the available Ethernet port on the Connector Box can be used directly. Otherwise, the device can be connected via an Ethernet ⇔ USB adapter by assigning a static IP address to the external Ethernet adapter.
Procedure
Plug a USB-stick containing the dhcpcd.conf file (see example below) into any of the available USB-ports on the Connector-Box. The external Ethernet adapter simply needs to be assigned an IP address that the device can connect to.
Wait at least 1 minute to ensure the settings are registered by the Connector Box. Unplug the USB-Stick.
Example dhcpcd.conf file:
# A list of options to request from the DHCP server. option domain_name_servers, domain_name, domain_search, host_name option classless_static_routes # Respect the network MTU. This is applied to DHCP routes. option interface_mtu # A ServerID is required by RFC2131. require dhcp_server_identifier # Configuration for eth1 (external Ethernet adapter) interface eth1 static ip_address=10.0.0.10/24
