The Advanced Search in Labregister allows you to not only find everything effortlessly but also to use it as a filter so that you can work with a selection of Items. You can use different criteria to refine your search and connect them through so-called logical operators. In the following instructions, you can find all the information to start with this feature:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Terminology: Criteria, Logical Operators, Conditions, Blocks, Values, and Elements/Rows

Apply Advanced Search with different Elements

Note: Please note, if you haven't performed the Advanced Search and collapse the panel, everything you entered will not be saved. If you want to check an Attribute Name, for example, please always perform the Search first and go back to the Advanced Search afterward.

To perform the Advanced Search with different Elements, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Advanced Search in the right upper right-hand corner.
  2. Choose a Criterion from the drop-down window. If you select Attribute in Category, please enter the name of the Attribute you want to search/filter for.
  3. Depending on the criterion you choose, select a condition from the second drop-down window.
  4. Enter a value to search/filter for or, if you choose Attribute in Category and enteres the Attribute name as in this example, select a value from the drop-down window.
  5. Use the + icon to add an additional Element to your Search.
  6. Choose in the popped-up drop-down window the logical operator (either and or or).
  7. Repeat steps 2-4 to add all information about the second Element.
  8. Repeat step 5 to add an additional Element or click on the bin icon to remove the Element.
  9. To clear the Search, click on CLEAR and to perform the Search, click on SEARCH.
  10. To collapse the panel, please click at the bottom right on the arrow. Please note, if you haven't performed the Advanced Search, everything you entered will not be saved. If you want to check an Attribute Name, for example, please always perform the Search first.

Tip: As the Item ID follows the structure LR-YYYYMMDD-{incremental number}, you can search for Items which were created on a specific date. To do so, please select Item ID as Criterion, and "contains" as condition. Enter the date of creation in the format YYYYMMDD, for example, 20221206.

Apply Advanced Search with Blocks

Note: Currently, we have a limitation of 5 blocks with each 5 Elements. Please let us know, should you face any inconviences with this.

With the so-called blocks the Advanced Search gets even more powerful, as it enables the User to set brackets around Search queries, for example ((A and B) or (A and C)). To perform the Advanced Search with different Elements, please follow the previously described steps and the steps below to add Blocks:

  1. Click on + ADD BLOCK to add a block to your Advanced Search.
  2. As described in the previous paragraph "Apply Advanced Search with different Elements", you can now add information for the Element you want to search for.

Wildcards

As in the Simple Search it is possible to use the so-called wildcards. You can use them as placeholders for different characters for the Item ID, Item name, or Category name. We support the following operators:

  • ?, matches any single character
  • *, can match zero or more characters, including an empty one
  • \, used before ? or *, disables the wildcard function
