How to import an Excel inventory to match the inventory category?

Modified on Mon, 22 Jan 2024 at 04:17 PM

  1. Choose to import a series of items to
    1. A newly created category, via Import from Excel.
    2. An existing category, via the Add Item > Add several items via Excel.
  2. Select a file (.xlsx format) you wish to import.
  3. If your Excel file has more than one worksheet choose which worksheet you want to import.
    1. Please note that you are only able to import 1 worksheet at a time.
    2. In this step, you still have the possibility to press Remove file in order to select a different Excel file.
  4. Drag and drop to match the column in the worksheet to the attributes available in the category.
    1. To give you an example here “Box # in Tower3 & Status” does not match with the categories on the right site. To move an attribute you have to drag and drop the equals symbol.
    2. Please note, if you upload an already exported sheet with the Item ID, it is not possible to upload this ID again. Drag this attribute to the bottom (position marked by text on the left side), where it will not be considered during the import. It is therefore not possible to change the item ID, as it is generated automatically.
  5. Select Upload to complete the action.

Note: If you have more columns in Excel than Attributes in the Labregister category, not all columns will be imported! Please add more attributes to the inventory category. If you have fewer columns in Excel than Attributes in the category, you won’t be able to import any data at all. You can add the respective columns in the first row to enable a successful import.
