Item Relationships

To map relationships between Items, such as "the fridge light bulb is a supplement to the fridge”, Labregister features the documentation of relationships between Items as described below. Since it is possible to relate Items across Categories, the Category of each related Item is always shown in the overview.

Add Relationship

  1. As soon as there are two Items with a parent child relationship, you can do as follows.
  2. Click on (either the ID or the name of) one of the Items.
  3. Click on EDIT.

  1. Click on RELATIONSHIPS.

  1. Click on either ADD PARENT, if you opend the bulb and what to connect the fridge; or ADD CHILD, if you opened the fridge and want to connect the bulb, to stick to the example introduced in the abstract. This will open either one of the following pop-ups, depending on what you have clicked.


Note: As soon as you your Item will already be in a relationship, the above screen will look something like this and you will click either of the + symbols to proceed.


Parent Relationship

Following up on the steps described in the general section of ADD RELATIONSHIP, I am relating a Laptop to a Power Brick, because the latter is a supplement to the former.

  1. I do so by selecting the former from the list. You may select several Items at this point.
  2. And I confirm my selection clicking ADD AS PARENTS.


Child Relationship

Following up on the steps described in the general section of ADD RELATIONSHIP, I am relating a Power Cord to a Power Brick, because the former is a supplement to the latter.

  1. I do so by selecting the former from the list. You may select several Items at this point.
  2. And I confirm my selection clicking ADD AS CHILDREN.


Final step

  1. Make sure to save what you have added by clicking SAVE here.



Check Relationship

  1. Click on (either the ID or the name of) an Items with at least one relationship.
  2. Click on RELATIONSHIPS.

  1. A screen with an overview opens. You can click on any relation, the respective Item details screen is opened in a seperate tab.


Note: Should you decide to edit at this point you wil be skipped to the ATTRIBUTES screen, because this is editing default. Click on the RELATIONSHIPS tab (as in step 2 of this section) once more to edit.



Edit Relationship

  1. As soon as there are two Items with a parent child relationship, you can do as follows.
  2. Click on (either the ID or the name of) one of the Item to be edited.
  3. Click on EDIT.

  1. Click on RELATIONSHIPS.

  1. Editing options are either to ADD RELATIONSHIP or to DELETE RELATIONSHIP as described in the respective sections.



Delete Relationship

  1. As soon as there are two Items with a parent child relationship, you can do as follows.
  2. Click on (either the ID or the name of) one of the Item to be edited.
  3. Click on EDIT.

  1. Click on RELATIONSHIPS.

  1. Click on the bin symbol next to the relationship to be removed.

Tip: For bulk action on several relationships, check as many checkboxes as you need before clicking the bin symbol. However, if there is only one relationship you do not need to do that.
  1. Click DELETE to execute.
